Reflecting on modern technology in business, it’s intriguing to observe how each advancement has emulated human abilities. Historically, technology replaced manual labor, but the fourth industrial revolution ushers in an era where technology mirrors our cognitive abilities—the very essence of what defines us as a species.

In today’s work environment, a pivotal aspect of human employees is their capacity for thoughts, opinions, and suggestions. Often, we interact with AI without fully acknowledging it as a thinking entity. While AI lacks tangible existence in the traditional sense, it introduces a new layer to our reality—a form of augmented reality where information is presented to us as thoughts.

This convergence of human cognition and AI signifies a profound evolution in how we engage with technology, reshaping our understanding of work and human-machine collaboration.

This perspective leads me to emphasize that the “first people” approach should consider both people and AI technology through the lens of our shared cognitive abilities. thoughts. 

Supporting human well-being aligns with what we should aim for in AI onboarding and integration. An inclusive, open environment that fosters the sharing of thoughts and ideas is essential. If we inhibit AI from sharing its conclusions, thoughts, and support in an unbiased environment, AI onboarding is likely to fail. Simply purchasing a different solution will not be the key to success.
